Minister Kamel Sponsors 9-year Old Mathematics Genius 22 Jul 2008 Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel will fully sponsor a nine-year old mathematics genius who managed to acquire ICDL in a record-breaking time. Mahmoud Wael is the youngest Egyptian trainee among 90,000 ones and the second child who acquired the certificate worldwide. Mahmoud received his certificate at the Smart Village from Dr. Ekram Fathy, Senior Advisor to Minister of Communications and IT for Human Resources and Training. Dr. Kamel is expected to meet the young genius soon. Dr. Fathy stated that MCIT is preparing Mahmoud to compete in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) due in Cairo in August 2008 to be the youngest IOI contestant worldwide. MCIT is also offering Mahmoud support on all levels while putting into consideration his young age and that it is necessary for him to live his childhood even if his mind surpasses his age. Qualifying him, according to Dr. Fathy, has to be undertaken based on scientific standards conforming to his age.

About ICDL ICDL is the world's largest end-user computer skills certification program offering youth an internationally accredited certification at no cost. The program raises the candidate's level of ICT and computer skills and improves their job prospects.
