CEO Statement
Sep 09
Since its inception more than 10 years ago, the ICDL programme has become recognised as the world’s leading basic IT skills certification, adopted in 148 countries and with more than 9 million participants worldwide.
Improving basic IT skills, or becoming digitally literate for the first time, is a hugely empowering and positive experience which can improve quality of life, as well as quality of work, for the benefit of individuals, institutions and nations.
It is the mission of the ECDL Foundation to bring these benefits throughout the world through our certification programmes.
In 2006, in recognition of our shared commitment to the development of basic IT skills, ECDL Foundation and MCIT formed a partnership to deliver ICDL certification to 1 million individuals in Egypt over 5 years, one of the most comprehensive and visionary of such projects anywhere in the world.
Just as becoming ICDL certified requires ability, commitment and dedication, so too does participating in the implementation of the programme and in Egypt we have partners of the highest calibre in MCIT and UNESCO Cairo Office and in our network of ICDL Accredited Testing Centres in cities and towns throughout the country.
ICDL certification allows individuals and institutions in Egypt to demonstrate their skills according to an internationally recognised standard and, whether you are a student, instructor, examiner or administrator, we welcome you as a valuable part of this global movement.
Damien O’Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer, ECDL Foundation.
*The ECDL Foundation is the not-for-profit global certifying authority of the ECDL and ICDL programmes, based in Dublin, Ireland and with offices in Brussels and Singapore.
